Jesus’ Signature on Your Life

The Lone Ranger – remember him – The Lone Ranger was a wild west superhero. You knew it was him – you knew he had been there because he always left behind a silver bullet – it was kind of his signature.

Zorro – had a habit of leaving his mark – a Z cut with his sword. His signature.

Even the bad guys get into the act of leaving behind a signature card – for the Joker it was, what else – the joker from a deck of cards.

Their signature piece – the mark that they were there. For artists, it’s a literal signature in the corner of a painting. For a contractor – it’s a sign left temporarily in the yard announcing whose work you see. The mark that they were there.

What do you suppose is the signature of Jesus? The mark that He has been here?

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ – well, what’s His signature on your life – His mark that Jesus was here – hopefully is here?

In the thirteenth chapter of John, Jesus gives us an example of His signature and then just flat out tells us how He marks His people for a doubting world to see.

Jesus’ washed His disciples’ feet. An odd thing in our day and age maybe – but a needed act of service then and there. Then Jesus says these things:

John 13:1-17; 34-35 (NIV1984)

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

What’s Jesus mark on His people – His sign that He has been here – His evidence to a doubting world?

“By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Jesus – we want your mark to be seen in us.
